Letter 4537

One neighbor has an unruly yard into which I see easily. Another neighbor tends to their grounds daily and is an example of industry.
From whom do I learn?
❖
Sitting in devotion, trying to draw near to you, Lord — my chores beckon. Yet what could be more important than my time with you, even as the weeds grow in the cracks between pavers that reach my doorstep?
Let me learn to recognize my teachers, Lord.
Consider:
Can I devote more energy to seeking you today?
Reading:
❖ “If he is indeed wise he does not bid you enter the house of his wisdom, but rather leads you to the threshold of your own mind.” — Kahlil Gibran, “On Teaching,” The Prophet (1923)
❖ “This very moment is the perfect teacher, and, lucky for us, it’s with us wherever we are.” — Pema Chödrön, When Things Fall Apart (1997), Chapter 3
❖ “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” — Proverbs 27:17 (KJV)
