Habit

I started with an idea that I would daily write a note. Now there is a library.

I began to set aside a few coins daily. Now there are resources to address calamity.

I sit in devotion and prayer daily, even as a nonbeliever. Slowly, you drew near to me and my faith became an oak.

Such small starts, such gradual progress, such undeniable growth.

Let me start something new today, Lord.

What small, new habit might I add into my life?

❖ “Large streams from little fountains flow; / Tall oaks from little acorns grow;” — David Everett, The Juvenile Orator

❖ “the work of the Lord was begun, and gradually carried on in me, even from my childhood.” — George Fox, Journal

❖ “For who hath despised the day of small things?” — Zechariah 4:10 (KJV)
