Body and Mind

And mind and body.

Awakening, wracked by woe, the chores yet await and I set to work. My body moves through the fields and the barn, muscles flex, breathe sussurates.

The body drives the mind, drives the mood.

Moving is its own form of healing, Lord. Let me remember to move when overcome.

Consider:

Can I remember to move today, when troubled?

The Doing

The way is through.

I think about the walk ahead, and gain no ground nor strength.

I set out, and the miles pass by, my body grows strong.

I cannot think my way to the end of this journey, I must take it.

Consider:

Can I accept that I must live my way into a new life?

Gifts and Gifts

Awakenings and awakenings.

Everything is a gift. My life, from nothing, needed no plan to emerge. You, Lord, established my goings.

Clouds and rains hang in the sky, blocking the sun. What perfect days the birds must have! Ever they can rise above the grey.

Can I see the clouds and their rain as their own gift? The crops need the water, the scorched grasses need the rest.

A way must be made across the fields to find fresh pasture for the flock. What gift is the weather? Grant, Lord, that I may know it.

Awakening after awakening.

Consider:

Can I truly be awake to all this bounty?

Mist

Fleeting permanence.

I am no more than a mist that appears and vanishes.

A cloud that hovers overhead, then is gone.

A shower that falls, then gives way to a rainbow.

What feels so permanent is fleeting, Lord. If it be your will, let me craft each moment with devotion and offer it as an offering back to you.

Look! Here comes another gift!

Consider:

Can I see that this, too, shall pass?
